Sharing Hope SC (formerly Lifepoint) || Fall 2017

Today, I would like to talk about an organization that means a lot to our family. Sharing Hope SC is an independent nonprofit corporation dedicated to advancing organ, eye and tissue donation in South Carolina for transplantation and research. Sharing Hope SC provides professional and public education regarding such donations, educational and emotional support to families of potential donors, and they are the organ and tissue recovery organization for South Carolina.

Randall made the decision, on his own, to become an organ and tissue donor when he applied for his drivers license. As a Mother, I felt like this was another selfless act of kindness on Randall's part. When he died, we honored his wishes.

His heart valve was donated to a recipient at The Medical University of South Carolina. The recipient was a child born with a heart defect, who without the gift of organ and tissue donation would not have survived. It seemed fitting that through Randall's death he gave life to another.

I feel it's important to shed light on organizations like this not only to help those on donor waiting lists but to inspire those who are thinking about organ and tissue donation on behalf of their family members whom have passed. It was such an uplifting feeling knowing that a part of Randall will continue to live on. In the grieving process, knowing a part of him was helping another child live gave me so much hope. For those who are considering it, I encourage you to read more about Sharing Hope SC by clicking here.

Bishop England Catholic High School, Tennis Court Ground Blessing

The goal of the Randall Heffron Foundation is to promote health, education, and wellness for children through a number of different fundraising and wellness initiatives. In keeping with our mission, the Randall Heffron Foundation, donated funds for a tennis court named in Randall's honor as part of the Michael L. Runey III Tennis Center, home of the John L. Manning Tennis Courts at Randall's alma mater. We hope Heffron court will not only perpetuate Randall's memory, but also serve the needs of Bishop England tennis families for generations to come.
